Building a Stronger Future for Sustainable Tourism in Northern Sri Lanka
The Northern Chamber of Industries (NCI) successfully concluded its Second Sustainable Tourism Workshop from 26ā28 July at Thinnai Hotel, facilitated by Maeve and Matthias of Mascon Tours, Germany.
As a follow-up to the first workshop, the programme reviewed the progress achieved to date and focused on developing a shared vision for a distinctive, authentic, and sustainable destination brand for the Northern Province. Participants also worked on transforming this vision into targeted tourism products, compelling marketing messages, effective promotional channels, a practical mini campaign, and a realistic six-month branding and marketing action plan.
The first two days were attended by the NCI Board of Directors, while the third day brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from government departments, authorities, Divisional Secretariat Offices, Pradeshiya Sabhas, and the private sectorāincluding hoteliers, tour operators, tour guides, and homestay owners. The workshop strengthened public-private dialogue and partnerships, laying the foundation for coordinated tourism development initiatives that will enhance the Northern Province as a unique and sustainable tourism destination.
NCI extends its sincere appreciation to all participants and partners for their valuable contributions and continued commitment to advancing sustainable tourism in Northern Sri Lanka.
