The Northern Chamber of Industries (NCI) initiated its investment matchmaking process following
the investment mapping study. As highlighted in our previous newsletter, 75 SMEs from the Northern
Province applied for investment support, including both micro and small-scale enterprises.
The screening process initially focused on private limited companies. With the support of an
independent consultant, 15 companies were shortlisted and engaged to assess their interest and
readiness. Based on their commitment, selected candidates were invited for interviews conducted by
a panel comprising industry experts and NCI representatives.
After evaluating their financials, business plans, and pitching skills, four companies were shortlisted
for investment matchmaking. The process of connecting these businesses with potential investors is
currently underway. NCI is taking this initiative as a pilot project for a larger investment
matchmaking program..
As part of this initiative, NCI organized a visit for a group of investors to Kuperaluxmy Enterprises on
the same day, marking its 12th anniversary of establishment in Jaffna. The investors actively
participated in the celebration ceremony and held engaging discussions with Ms. Archana and her
mother on potential investment matchmaking opportunities. NCI Director Ms. Jesmin, along with the
NCI staff, also took part in the visit, further strengthening the interaction and collaboration.
