Mullaitivu Tourism Engagement Programme

The Northern Chamber of Industries (NCI) organized a Tourism Business Engagement Program on 20th January at the Mullaitivu Kachcheri, bringing together key stakeholders in the tourism sector. The program aimed to promote dialogue, identify challenges, and explore opportunities for sustainable tourism development in the Mullaitivu District. Participants included hoteliers, guest house owners, tourist guides, transport operators, and tourism entrepreneurs. Key institutional stakeholders such as the Government Agent of Mullaitivu, Northern Province Tourism Bureau (NPTB), and Northern Province Tourism Association (NPTA) also attended. The discussions focused on improving infrastructure, enhancing service quality, and building stronger public-private partnerships. Stakeholders highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to attract more visitors and promote Mullaitivu as a tourism destination, while also preserving its natural and cultural assets. The engagement provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and idea exchange, enabling participants to collectively identify practical solutions to current industry challenges. A networking event followed the main session, held at Avalon Resort, Mullaitivu, from 6:00 PM onwards, where participants continued discussions in an informal setting and explored business collaboration opportunities. The event concluded with a shared commitment to advancing tourism growth in the region.
